Russ Allor
String Bass

Russ, whose bass joins Rusty and Brenda to anchor DCJB, has a widely varied musical background. Randy Newman, Lou Adler, Mercedez Ellington and Barry Williams are just a part of the list of artists Russ has performed or recorded with. He has been a “hired gun” since he was 15 and credits Steely Dan for his musical awakening. After finishing a string bass degree at LSU, he freelanced in the L.A. pop and jazz scene for six years. Russ returned to his roots in Baton Rouge where he was first call for many music directors throughout southeast Louisiana. He now circulates among the musicians of the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Brenda Schlender-Bucher
Piano / Keyboard

A classically-trained keyboardist who has been playing since she was 5 years old, Brenda has been a member of DCJB since 2010.  She studied organ performance and church music in college and focused on classical music until she made the transition to jazz about five years before joining DCJB.  In addition to tickling the ivories for DCJB Brenda regularly plays in worship services, weddings and other special events and she is also a composer who has written about 20 tunes.  Here’s how Brenda describes her DCJB experience: “Playing with the DCJB has been a great challenge, wonderful learning opportunity, and a bunch o' fun.”
