Founded in 1994, DCJB is a traditional 18-piece Big Band comprised of saxophones, trombones, trumpets, a rhythm section and a vocalist. The group's members, led by Music Director David Kelley, are dedicated musicians of all ages, backgrounds, professions and church affiliations.
The DCJB features dynamic arrangements of familiar hymns, spirituals and other Christian music, as well as an extensive repertoire of secular big band jazz and swing arrangements. During the Christmas holiday season the band adds familiar holiday tunes performed big band style and also has a library of patriotic and other specialty music. DCJB can craft a program to fit a wide variety of events and musical styles. |
To date, the band has recorded four compact discs:
Isn't He Amazing!Amazing (2013) includes a mix of sacred and secular selections
Sermonette (2004) and He's Everything To Me (1998) highlight the band's Christian music
Christmas with the Dallas Christian Jazz Band (1999) features both sacred and secular holiday favorites
The group's recordings have been heard on radio in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and are available at all DCJB appearances as well as through this Web site.
