David joined DCJB in 1995, not long after the group formed. Since 1998, he has also been the band’s music director, leading the band in rehearsals and performances. He is also responsible for music selection and the overall artistic development of the group. David has produced the group's last three CD recordings,Christmas with the Dallas Christian Jazz Band, Sermonette and Isn’t He Amazing!
Additionally, David freelances here in the Dallas area on trombone and percussion, and is a regular member of the legendary Dallas Jazz Orchestra, the Graceland Ninjaz, and several other local ensembles. He has toured nationally and internationally, and has performed with various acts, including the Les Elgart Orchestra, Bobby Shew, Don Most, Sir Earl Toon, Denver and the Mile High Orchestra, and The Temptations. David is a member of Richardson First Baptist Church. .

Rick Weaver
Rick joined DCJB in 2012. After college he laid his horn down for 20 years before picking it back up again to play in the orchestra at First Baptist Church of Plano, where he is a deacon, an adult Bible study teacher and still playing in the orchestra. After a 40 year professional career as a Program Manager with AT&T and Rockwell Collins, Rick retired in 2018. But after a few years of retirement he became a part-time staff member of First Baptist Church, where he is Spiritual Growth Director, responsible for adult discipleship and education. He enjoys spending time with his seven grandchildren and doing volunteer work. About DCJB he says, “I particularly love praising God by playing familiar hymn tunes in a jazz setting and seeing the reactions of audience members when a song brings back a memory or touches their heart.”
Ken Kunz Bass Trombone
Ken began his DCJB tenure in 2012. A graduate of Eastern Illinois University and the University of North Texas, Ken performed with the UNT One O'Clock Lab Band, Symphonic Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. From 1979 until 1986 Ken performed in Las Vegas at the Tropicana, MGM Grand, Aladdin, Dunes, Stardust and the Riviera playing for such headliners as Wayne Newton, Lola Falana, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Anne Murray, Bob Hope, Dianne Carroll, Paul Williams, the Gatlin Brothers, Louis Bellson, and the Four Freshmen. In the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, Ken has played with such groups as Pete Peterson's Collection Jazz Orchestra, EDS Jazz Ensemble, Joshua Christian Big Band, Swingtime Big Band and his church orchestra at First Baptist Church of Plano, TX. In 2024 Ken retired RealPage, Inc., where he was an Instructional Designer.
