Diane
Lundy, keyboards
Diane was born into a musical family, and quickly went
about showing that she fit in. She began playing piano in the second grade,
took up the flute in junior high, and was a member of the marching band
at Bryan Adams High School in Dallas, where she was directed by longtime DCJB member
David Pittman. Diane has had a lifelong involvement with church music,
including singing in church choirs since age five, playing in handbell
choirs since age nine, and serving as a church organist for over five
years. She is currently a member of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church, where
she is active in the Adult Choir, Ladies Handbell Choir, and Orchestra.
Rusty
Averitt, drums
A letter carrier by day, Rusty delivered his musical
skills to the DCJB in 2002. In joining the band, he was reunited with
Tom Fletcher, a college mate of his from East Texas
State University in Commerce. Rusty has played over the years with musicians
such as Jack Melick, Mal Fitch, Chuck Arlington, Al Denson, Steve Allen,
Sherman Andrus (the Imperials) and David Phelps (the Gaithers), as well
as with the 5th Army Band and the San Antonio Little Theater. He has been
with the group Doc and the Gang for 20 years, and also plays with Swing
Street Connection. In addition to his U.S. Postal Service job, he teaches
drum lessons at North Lake College and Murphy's Music. He is a member
of Irving's Plymouth Park Baptist Church, where he plays in the orchestra
and volunteers in the youth ministry.

Sylvester Sample, bass
Sylvester Sample, a native of Memphis,
Tennessee, has had extensive jazz performing experiences including
concert performances with: James Williams, Phineas Newborn, Jr., Bill
Easley, Harold Mabern, Donald Brown, Marian McPartland, TW Sample and
many more. Former jazz group affiliations include: (Memphis) Midtown
Jazz Mobile, Herman Green & the Green Machine, Edwin Hubbard, and
Backswing Orchestra; (Chicago/Milwaukee) Tony Caselli Orchestra and Al
Lake Orchestra; (Columbus, OH) Rick Brunetto Bigband and Dwight Lenox.
His recording credits include: James Williams - Flying Colors; Midtown
Jazz Mobile – Bakatak, Fugitive ; Gerard Harris - No Strings
Attached; Backswing - Backswing, The Big Band Sound of Memphis; Lannie
McMillan - Breakin' Through; MSU Jazzband A - ...On Tour, Doin' Time;
Rick Brunetto Bigband - So Many Star So Many Dreams; Dwight Lenox -
Gershwin and Friends.
He started in music by playing for services at Eastern Star Baptist
Church in Memphis. Job relocations afforded him the opportunity join
and occasionally perform with his wife, Marie, and son, TW, at Second
Baptist Church of Wheaton (IL) and Oakley Full Gospel Baptist Church
(Columbus, OH).
Sylvester earned a B.S. from the University of Memphis and an M.B.A.
from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He works as a Technical
Services Manager with a major truck and engine manufacturer.
Jeff
Kauffman, guitar
Jeff joined the DCJB in 2004. Born and raised in Venezuela,
he joined the Up With People organization as a guitarist and toured the
U.S. during the country's bicentennial year. He later studied music at
the University of North Texas in Denton. Jeff's musical experience includes
playing with several Dallas-area bands, both Christian and secular, as
well as session work for Singleton Productions. He has played in the worship
band at Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall since 1990, and traveled to the
2000 Olympics in Sydney as part of a worship band leading services for
athletes. Jeff has worked for UPS for over 23 years and also teaches guitar.
